The Management of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for positions of Tutorial Assistants (TA’s) (<35 yrs of age) and Assistant Lecturers (<45 years). Applicants are

advised to note that the minimum GPA of 3.8 or an average of B for unclassified degrees such as that of Veterinary and Medical graduates at undergraduate level applies for TA’s and 3.5 at BSc/BA level or equivalent (i.e. an average of B for Veterinary and Medical graduates) and a good Masters degree is applicable for those with postgraduate qualifications. Only registered Veterinarians will be considered for interviews.

Due to procedural technicalities the following positions had to be re-advertised. Applicants are advised to note that salary packages and fringe benefits shall be as per Treasury Registrar’s Salaries Circular No. 3 of 2013.

The deadline for submission of application letters indicating names and addresses of three referees, together with certified copies of certificates and transcripts, curriculum vitae and testimonials shall be two weeks after the date of the first advertisement. 1. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING AND LAND PLANNING
Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Farm Machinery and Mechanization for applicants in possession of a BSc in Electro – Mechanical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering or related field and a MSc in the areas related to Agricultural Machinery and Mechanization. Those working in the industry are encouraged to apply.

2. DEPARTMENT OF SOIL SCIENCE
Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Soil Survey/ Pedology/ Land Evaluation for applicants in possession of a BSc in Soil Science/Agronomy/ Agricultural General/Horticulture with relevant Soil Science courses i.e. Soil Survey/ Pedology/ Land Evaluation from a recognised Institution.

3. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS AND AGRIBUSINESS
Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Business Management for applicants in possession of a honours degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Agriculture/ Agricultural Economics and a Masters degree in Business Administration majoring in Human Resource Management/ Finance/ Marketing/ Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship Development.

4. DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Dairy Science for applicants in possession of a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a minimum GPA of 3.8 at undergraduate level and at least B+ score in Dairy Cattle Management and Milk Processing courses.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Dairy Science for applicants in possession of a Master of Science in Dairy Science, Dairy Technology, Animal Production/ Science or related studies, with a minimum of GPA of 3.5 and Bachelors of Science in Animal Science with a minimum GPA of 3.8 and at least B score in Dairy Cattle Management and Milk Processing courses. Working experience in these fields of study will be an added advantage.

5. DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE AND PRODUCTION Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Crop Production/Agronomy for applicants in possession of a BSc. in related fields and a MSc in Crop Physiology/Plant Nutrition/ Agronomy with emphasis in Cropping Systems.

6. DEPARTMENT OF FOREST MENSURATION AND MANAGMENT
Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Forest Resource Assessment in the fields of Forest Mensuration, GIS and Remote Sensing for applicants in possession of a BSc Forestry and MSc. in Forestry Mensuration and Management/ Forestry Resource Assessment and Management and in the related field.

7. DEPARTMENT OF FOREST BIOLOGY
Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Forest Biology and Ecosystem Management in the fields of Silviculture for applicants in possession of a BSc and MSc. degree in Forestry and related fields. Knowledge of Agroforestry, Tree Breeding and Fire Management will be an added advantage.

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Forest Biology in the fields of Forest Protection (Forest Entomology, Forest Pathology and other related fields) for applicants in possession of a good BSc degree in Forestry and related and related fields.

8. DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT Assistant Lecturer (4 Posts) in the discipline of Tourism for applicants in possession of a MSc in Tourism/Linguistic/ Anthropology and Tourism and Bachelor of Tourism/ Linguistics/ Anthropology and Tourism. The applicant shall have to teach one or two of the following courses:- Meal Planning, Business Law and Ethics for Tourism, Travel Laws and Insurance, Management Information System, Computer Application in Tourism, Food Production and Catering, Restaurant and Food Management, Spanish and/or French Language

Tutorial Assistant (2 Post) in the discipline Tourism for applicants in possession of a Bachelor in Tourism Management or equivalent from a recognised Institution. The applicant shall serve as a teaching assistant and conduct tutorials in two or more of the following courses:-Meal Planning, Business Law and Ethics for Tourism, Travel Laws and Insurance, Management Information System, Computer Application in Tourism, Food Production and Catering, Restaurant and Food Management, Spanish and/or French Language.

9. DEPARTMENT OF WOOD UTILIZATION
Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Wood Utilization for applicants in possession of BSc in Forestry/Wood Science with at least a “B+” in Wood Science subjects. The applicant must have competence in Rheology of Wood, natural durability in wood, wood biodegradation and timber preservation.

10. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AND PUBLIC HEALTH
Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) for applicants in possession of BVSc/BVM degree from a recognised Institution with an overall grade of at least “B” or above at undergraduate. The Candidate should also have at least scored “B” in Veterinary Medicine courses.

Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) in the discipline of Veterinary Theriogenology for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc from a recognised Institution with an overall average score in all subjects of “B” and above in year 4 and 5. Must have scored an average of “B” in Veterinary Theriogenology courses.

12. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY MICROBIOLOGY AND PARASITOLOGY
Assistant Lecturer (1 Posts) in the discipline of Veterinary Microbiology for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc degree and MSc in Veterinary Microbiology from a recognised Institution and who has an overall of “B” grade or above for BVM and should in addition have scored “B” grade or above in Veterinary Microbiology at Undergraduate.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Veterinary Immunology for applicants in possession of a BVM degree and MVM/MVSc/MSc in Veterinary Immunology from a recognised University and who have an overall “B” grade or higher at Bachelor degree and should in addition have scored “B” grade or above in Immunology.

Assistant Lecturer (2 Posts) in the discipline of Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology for applicants in possession of a BSc/MD/BVM degree and MSc in Molecular Biology from a recognised University.

Assistant Lecturer (1 Post) in the discipline of Veterinary Parasitology for applicants in possession of a BVM degree and MVM/MVSc/MSc in Veterinary Parasitology from a recognised University and who have an overall “B” grade or higher at Bachelor degree and should in addition have scored “B” grade or above in Parasitology. Working experience of at least three years will be an added advantage.

13. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY ANATOMY
Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc. In addition the applicant must have an overall score of “B” or above in all subjects and scored an average of “B” or above in Veterinary Anatomy.

14. DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY PATHOLOGY
Tutorial Assistant (1 Post) for applicants in possession of a BVM/BVSc degree from a recognised Institution. The applicant must have an overall score of “B” or above for all subjects. In addition must have an average of “B” or above in Veterinary Pathology courses.

11. DEPARTMENT  OF  VETERINARY  SURGERY  AND Tutorial Assistant  (2  Posts)  in  the  discipline  of  Database
THERIOGENOLOGY Management/Web   Programming/Software   Engineering   for applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering /Informatics or related fields from a recognised Institution.

Tutorial Assistant (2 Posts)in the discipline of Electronics/Telecommunication/Computer Networking/ Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning for applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering/Telecommunication/Electronics/ Informatics or related fields from a recognised Institution.
